Nagpur is the third largest city in the Indian state of
Maharashtra. It is the 13th
largest city in India by population. Nagpur is projected to be the fifth fastest
growing city in the world from 2019 to 2035.
Nagpur is the main center of commerce in
the Vidarbha region. It
is an important trading location and has been ranked 11th most
competitive city in the country.
Nagpur has a nominal GDP of ₹153,027
crore (US$19 billion) for 2021-22. The GDP per capita is ₹246,750 (US$3,100).
Nagpur has a significant locational advantage because it is in
the geographical center of India and is well-connected to major cities across
the country.
Nagpur
has huge natural resources including minerals and agri-produce. About 47% of
Maharashtra state's power is generated around Nagpur. One of the largest Industrial Estates of Asia is located at Butibori
near Nagpur.
Nagpur
is positioned to become India's next major IT hub. Infosys and TCS have already
established campuses in the vicinity of MIHAN.
